Research paper writing can sometimes appear a devilish activity for a student. Certainly it presumes development of a student’s knowledge. Besides, a research paper prospers his ability to organize his thoughts and transfer them correctly to a paper. The writing skills and research performing it helps to evolve remains in a student’s drawer of knowledge forever. Yet, it takes much time especially when you hesitate how to start working, what o include or where to find the necessary information.
The following guidelines will be helpful for you to consider:
• Choose a topic
When choosing a topic for a research paper (if it is free) stop your choice on a concrete and narrowed aspect that challenges and interests you.
• Find the information
Look for proper information in all relating websites, in university and public libraries, in newspapers and magazines, in business and government agencies or elsewhere, where can be a hope to find even a trifle! Collecting those “trifles” you will have a good basis for starting the work.
• State your thesis statement
After digesting and thoroughly understanding both your topic and information you have gathered, do some critical thinking. After it write down the statement in one sentence to express the purpose of your work and the importance of the arguments you have brought forward.
• Create an outline
Make a tentative outline of what you are going to do step by step. Include everything including the paper structure, your arguments, used literature, quotes etc.
• Organize your notes
This step presumes separating the information you have collected into sections. Note them for defending your arguments.
• The first draft
Start writing your first draft and compare it with your outline. Note if you have messed any point or have some paragraphs, thoughts you realize are poor or weak. Change any part you consider is worth to change.
• Start typing accurately the work you have done. Be attentive not to have any misprints or mistakes.
